The Three S's of Consistency.

We are approaching week 4 of college, and as my writing teacher put it: "This is where the crap gets real." He was right about that.

So, my apologies in advance for the inconsistent upload schedule. I am getting the hang of managing a heavier workload as I progress this first semester and am discovering how to counterbalance a work-life balance and stay focused from distractions. That's a lot easier said than done.

Anyways, while writing this week's post on the second floor of bender library (arguably the #1 most scenic study spot on campus), I realized that writing posts are a lot harder than I thought (🤯).

I've realized that creating a post every week without a framework to guide ideas, creativity, or analysis creates a major obstacle in completing a piece by a deadline. So, what drives consistency? This is what I've found:

  1. Structure
  2. Simplicity
  3. Stickiness

The first two are straightforward. An outline that reflects how you're wired and invites writing is what starts the process. Stickiness though? I find that while the first two elements tackle the setup, they don't create a desire for sustained creativity.

Stickiness is the sum of both of these elements. It takes the filter and approachability that structure and simplicity provide and translates them into a rhythmic ritual that you can execute on daily.

I look forward to sharing what I have designed with you all next week! It's great to share the obstacles I'm facing in this journey and the solutions I have found along the way. Until next time!
