π§ Weekly Reflections #4: I think, therefore I am.
Hey Everyone β
Welcome to the 4th edition of the weekly reflections newsletter! I'm writing this newsletter with a beautiful, sunny spring day as my backdrop and am sending that D.C. Spring Bloom to wherever you are today! (and shout out to all my DC members of the WF Fam!).
That being said, let's get into it! π«‘
π Reflections from the Journal:
- Overheard from a Starbucks convo: Try taking a "no week"π‘
β³ Basically, give yourself permission to say no to others to protect your time for a specific cause. I found that the idea of this experiment is fascinating, and pre-deciding to take those kinds of weeks (or even a day!) seems like an excellent practice.
β³ I'd love to know if y'all would consider doing this or if it's something you end up doing! Feel free to reply to this email with your thoughts on this practice β I'd love to hear them!
- I've recently discovered that one of the biggest mistakes college students (myself included) tend to make is not having enough margin in their schedule to think.
β³ I remember how in a conversation I had with my investment mentor before heading to college, he imparted similar wisdom for me to carry into the next season of my life, and I'm only now starting to understand the impact of having that space for thinking deeply taken away because of that cycle of busyness that comes with university life.
- βThe highest form of art is not appreciation from others, it's the lasting of your soul" - Β BECOMING who YOU are created to BE | Charles Metcalf | The Basement w- Tim Ross #035 (1:16:00)
β³ After this excerpt, there's an AMAZING discussion about artists whose art ended up killing them because of what they went through and what went into producing their art. If you want a new perspective on the importance of rest, I HIGHLY recommend checking this one out!
β³ The habit of learning (what you learn) π‘
β³ The habit of training your thoughts (how you think) π
β³ The habit of choosing your friendships (who you're with) π₯
β€οΈ Quotes of the week:
- βDonβt say how it was, say how it is.β - Person from the cafeteria
- βI donβt want to use my weekends to forget my weekdays. I want to use my weekends to build my future.β - M
That's all I got for today. Love you guys, and see you next week!
